about
Described recently by Rip It Up Magazine's Robert Dunstan as 'perky' - the song 'Back With You' is one of the band's most favoured live songs with audiences.
It is also one of the most misunderstood.
While the general understanding is that it is yet another 'relationship song' - it is, in actual fact, a response to the Global Financial Crisis.
The song is also notable for the cunning use of a Moog Moogerfooger MuRF pedal coming out of the slide guitar solo which, in a recent review, was mistakingly referred to as 'sounds like frogs in the background'. Ahhh...Moog Wins. Flawless Victory.
lyrics
We have returned - older, wiser, new
We’ve come so far yet we have misconstrued
That old business exposed for what it is
And now it comes snapping at our heels
In the silence then it comes
You feel panic it makes you want to run
Yeah I’m back with you
Never thought it true
Yeah I’m back with you
Never wanted to
‘29 - the Crash - the memories
You’d think we’d learned
But history now repeats
Other things worthy of regard
History can bite
Stay awake, keep watch, on guard
In the silence then it comes
You feel panic it makes you want to run
Yeah I’m back with you
Never thought it true
Yeah I’m back with you
Never wanted to
